How wheatgrass can be used?

Since from the previous post we know what is wheatgrass and have a basic idea of its benefits, the next question arises How can one obtain the benefits of wheatgrass?

There are different methods of consuming wheat grass to obtain the benefits-

1.) Wheatgrass powder- Wheatgrass is sold by some companies in powder form. The powder can be mixed in water or any other drink to make wheat grass juice. While this method is hassle free one can never be sure about the quality of wheatgrass used for making powder. Also studies have shown that wheatgrass lose much of it benefits when used in powder form.

2.) Wheatgrass capsules/tablet- Some companies go a step further and convert wheatgrass into capsules which can be taken any time without hassle. How effective is wheatgrass if taken in the form of capsule is not known well.

3.) Wheatgrass juice- The most common method used by people is juicing fresh wheatgrass and having its juice. Since wheatgrass juice should be consumed shortly after juicing most people prefer to juice it themselves and its difficult to buy wheatgrass juice off the shelves.

There are two methods of obtaining wheatgrass. One is buying from the market. Another is growing it at Home. In future posts it will be explained how to grow wheatgrass at Home and what are the best methods for doing so.

Since this blog is dedicated to wheatgrass it makes sense to first know what exactly is wheatgrass? While the name itself is self explanatory it is always better to have a proper definition so here it goes-

What Is Wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is the young grass of the wheat plant, Triticum aestivum. It grows in temperate regions throughout Europe and the United States and can live indoors or outdoors. Many people grow their own wheatgrass by putting wheat seeds in water and then harvesting the leaves.
Wheatgrass is a natural source of vitamins and antioxidants, including:
  • Vitamins A, E, and B-12
  • Calcium
  • Selenium
  • Magnesium
